Preparing the Work Site

We do the conventional tarps on the ground to protect your property from the dirt & trash of the roof replacement. If there is a large flowerbed that needs protected, we use boards that go from the ground to the roof. Then we put tarps on them as well as the ground, and that way we create like a slide for the trash and dirt to slide to the ground on, and then the tarps on the ground catch the dirt and trash.
If we find that you have bad wood on your roof, we will replace it at this time. Also any vents that are sticking up from your roof, we will remove the old boot around it, and replace with a new one and seal it in.
Installation of your New Metal Roofing
After everything is clean, we will put down the insulation layer, this will help to block moisture form getting trapped between the metal roofing and the sheathing. Next we will install the edging, or flashing at the edge of your roof.
Now here comes the metal panels. We will start at the point with the longest peak-to-eve distance. The first sheet of metal will be placed so that it overhangs the edge at least 3/4". Neoprene washer head screws will be used to secure the metal to the the sheathing. The screws will be place approximately 24" apart down the entire piece of metal.
When adding the the next piece of metal, it will be overlapping by at least one inch, possibly more. Now that we have your roof done, we will place flashing to cover where there are seams. Winchester Roofing will make sure that everything is sealed so that water won't get in.
